A huge hello and welcome to everyone who happened to click over to this little slice of the Internet. I’m Nicole, and I’m so excited you’re here.
Without getting into too many specifics (if you want to learn more about me, click here), I am a student at Georgetown University about to enter my sophomore year. That makes me 19, right on the cusp of bidding adieu to my teenage years, and wondering how the heck I got here.
I’ve learned a lot over the past years. I’ve learned what makes me feel alive and fills me with wonder, what makes my heart beat fast, what makes me weep, what makes me laugh with abandon.
For the longest time, the idea of starting a blog lay somewhere in the back of my mind, slowly developing like a roll of old-fashioned film, but I always found reasons not to. Doubts plagued me, and it was always much easier to give into them than persevere. Questions like what would I write about, who would read, do I have anything important to say continually quashed the fire that had been kindling for years. Until one day, the pull to write, to start, to do became too strong to ignore.
I am a strong believer in fate, in the universe sending us messages, and in receiving those messages and acting upon them even if you’re scared out of your mind and have no idea what the outcome will be.
For me, the message was clear: Start. Write. Create.
For right now, I have absolutely no idea where this blog will go. I have called it Laughing My Abs Off because I have a passion for fitness and healthy living but also believe that laughter is an absolutely necessary part of every day. To be perfectly honest, I’m not even particularly sure what I want to focus on. I have so many thoughts on healthy living and fitness, but also on life, on relationships, friendships, self-care. I suppose I’ll just have to see where the music takes me.
I hope, for my own sake, that I will not abandon this project, that I will see it through and allow it to grow and transform. Something tells me this is the start of a crazy wild ride.
It’s a good thing I’m a sucker for a good adventure.
