Hey! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these roundups of everything I’ve been loving recently. This is going to be the most random conglomeration of books and movies and food and videos, but it’s everything that’s brought me much joy, pleasure, or fulfillment in the last month.
Hope you enjoy!
Untamed by Glennon Doyle
Starting off with what is, without a doubt, my favorite and most influential item on this list. If you don’t take anything else away from this post, I hope you at least look this book up or follow Glennon on Instagram. She is quite honestly a revolution in a woman and an incredibly gifted writer. If your feed is anything like mine, this book was all over it around a month ago. I’m normally not one to hop on trends, or read something just because everyone is reading it, but I listened to Glennon’s episode on Brene Brown’s podcast, and I immediately ordered the book.
I read it in three nights, staying up far too late and letting the words wash over me and soak me in wisdom and truth, and then after I had a couple days to reflect and process everything I’d read, I read it again. Somehow, I got even more out of it the second time.
This is a book that if you’re ready to read it, will truly hit you with full force. It felt like exactly what I needed at this moment in my life. And it is absolutely now one of my favorite books that I know I will be rereading again in the future. I won’t say any more about it, but if you’re wondering if you’d like it, I’d highly recommend listening to that podcast episode which gives the perfect preview of the book.
Super Attractor by Gabrielle Bernstein
We getting spiritual up in here. I read this book before, at the very end of 2019, and I definitely liked it a lot but in the middle of the school year, I honestly did not have the full time and attention to devote to it that it needs. Last week, I decided to reread it because I felt like brushing up on my manifestation skills, and it hit completely differently. When I was able to actually process the words and do all the exercises in the book, I felt an undeniable difference from before I read it to after. It’s really an amazing book, especially if you’re more of a beginner in this spiritual space and are super open but just need some very clear explicit guidance. Gabby’s a real one.
Sahara Rose Oracle Cards
Onward with the woo woo. This is one of my absolute favorite purchases of quarantine. I LOVE these cards. I actually have really admired Sahara Rose and her amazing podcast for a while now, but I had no idea she made these cards, until I accidentally came across them on Amazon.
If you are familiar with tarot cards, oracle cards are similar but also quite different. While tarot is normally used for guidance about the future and often requires some complicated deciphering, oracle cards focus on the present and are incredibly simple. They are meant to guide you to what your intuition already knows to be true. It’s quite similar to how I approach daily horoscopes actually. They are only useful insofar as they connect you closer to your intuition and help you see all the answers within yourself.
For the past month, I’ve been loving pulling a card right after my meditation in the morning to be a sort of guiding principle for the day. If this feels at all intriguing, I’d highly recommend just going for it and getting yourself a deck. If nothing else, it’s gorgeous. Besides, now is as good a time as any to dive into the woo woo, wouldn’t you say?
TJ’s Cauliflower Crust Pizza
From spirituality to pizza. That should be the motto of this blog. My amazing wonderful Georgetown Bestie did a TJ’s haul for me the other day when she was able to drive down there (I sadly don’t have a car and no TJ’s exist within walking distance – I know, it’s tragic). I missed this pizza SO DANG MUCH. My mom and I had it the following day when we were both too lazy to cook, and it hit the spot. Especially with some Merlot. 😉
I always dress up the pizza with whatever we have in the fridge/whatever I’m feeling, so on this day I put on some frozen broccoli and frozen peas (eh, I was feeling creative), and when it was done baking, I drizzled on some balsamic glaze (the BEST on pizza). We both loved.
New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc
I have found….my favorite wine. This might even trump my beloved Merlot….well, maybe. I guess, I have found my favorite white wine. I’ve been wanting to try Sauvignon Blanc for ages, and we finally ended up purchasing it to go with the cauliflower alfredo pasta I made the other week. Something about white pasta just begs for white wine. And yes, I am in love.
This Dear Evan Hansen video
This. This was everything I needed and more. I am a HUGE fan of Jordan Fisher, and DEH is my favorite Broadway show I’ve never seen. If you’re unaware, Jordan had just gotten the titular role of Evan when the pandemic hit, shutting down all Broadway shows. I really really hope once this is all over, he will be able to resume his role, because that would just be a DREAM. But for now, I’ll just watch this video on repeat.
Bruno Major’s To Let a Good Thing Die
My boyfriend introduced me to Bruno Major. He’s an English songwriter who has a knack for writing chill music that makes you feel all the feels. My faves from this album are The Most Beautiful Thing, Nothing, and I’ll Sleep When I’m Older.
Always Be My Maybe
Finally got around to watching this Netflix gem the other night. My mom and I both thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a bit silly at times, but sincere throughout, and it was the perfect feel-good movie night. Also two words. Keanu. Reeves. If you know, you know. 😉
And that’s it for this list of faves. I hope you’re all doing really well, and I’m sending you all my love. Lemme know what you’ve been loving in the comments; I’d love to know!
xx
