Jingle bells jingle bells, midterms all the way!
Oh what fun it is to write up study sheets every day, hey!
You guys still here?
So yes, I am still in the deep waters of midterms, but I am in the home stretch and can almost see the finish line. My last and biggest midterm is Tuesday, and after that, I am home freeeeee. Honestly can’t wait. It’s my Myth final, and you don’t understand how many similar-sounding Greek names and indistinguishable illustrations I’ve had to memorize over the past week. Let’s just say I’m going to be very happy when this midterm is done and I can promptly empty out all this information from my brain…only to have to learn it all over again for the final. Heh, #collegelife.
I’ve definitely tried to be kind to myself this weekend though. Amidst all the studying, I was embracing the phrase #treatyoself, as you shall see. It was a really nice weekend, with a mix of excitement and relaxation, and of course, some great eats. Let’s dive in, shall we?
Friday
So this technically didn’t happen on Friday, but I wanted to show you guys what I got one of my friends for her birthday. That girl is Obama’s biggest fan, so obviously I got her…a bobblehead of the man himself.
She freaked out :p
Roomie and I started the day with a Halo Top date and a Whole Foods shop. I went for PB cup this time, which I hadn’t had in months. Pretty sure it’s my favorite flavor, though.
A quick thought on Halo Top. I’ve read lots of different blog posts on how Halo Top sucks and is a marketing ploy and really isn’t that healthy, and it’s just a way to propagate a calorie-obsessed mentality.
My thoughts? I genuinely like the taste of Halo Top, and I think it’s pretty fun that you can eat a pint of ice cream for a meal. Would I eat it every day? God, no.
But I’m pretty sure it’s not meant to be eaten every day by the pint. I think most everything is fine in moderation, and I don’t see Halo Top actually harming me. So I’ll keep enjoying my ice cream breakfast dates, if ya don’t mind 😉
After the ice cream had some time to digest, Roomie and I went for a run along the Georgetown waterfront. It was actually super awesome, but also quite brutal. We did 4 miles, which took about 50 minutes, and we did take a couple small breaks, but it was so nice to run with someone and take in the gorgeous scenery. Definitely going to do this again, and I honestly can’t believe this was my first time running here.
That being said, I woke up the next day majorly sore all over my legs. The next day, too. Runners, I don’t know how you do it, but you have my major respect.
In the evening, we ordered from Curry and Pie and split a Saag Paneer pizza + French fry chaat. Yum.
And then we went to a club in DC that was having an 18+ event. I hadn’t been to a club since freshman year, so this was fun, though I’m pretty much good for the next while haha.
Saturday
I slept until a glorious 11:15am, which gave me a nice restorative 9 hours of sleep. Then I took myself to breakfast at Jaco for an acai bowl. Georgetown Bestie was in NYC for the weekend, so it was just me. Missed her!
Then I got in a pampering sesh with a mani/pedi, and then the rest of the day was pretty much spent cooped inside studying. Oh, I got a Sweetgreen salad at some point too.
Sunday
Roomie and I were super excited because on the agenda today was visiting the DuPont Farmer’s Market, which we’d only been to once just about a year ago. The star of the attraction? The maple syrup stand, which dishes out phenomenal blueberry pancakes. We’d been hoping they’d have their seasonal pumpkin ones, but those apparently only come out in November. Boo.
But we still enjoyed the shiz out of those blueberry buckwheat pancakes.
After getting back to campus, I studied some more, and then had a reflection session with my small team from my retreat leader group. I may have mentioned that I lead a freshman retreat on campus this year, and a part of that is meeting with my fellow leaders once a month for a bit to just chat and be vulnerable and open about how we’re really feeling. It’s pretty great.
That was followed by more studying with some friends, and then I tried on my Halloween costume (it fit, thank goodness!), prepped breakfast for the next day, and got ready for bed.
Ready to tackle this week, which hopefully will be much easier than the last. Wish me luck!
Tell me the best moment from your weekend!
Thanks Meghan for hosting Week In Review!

Good luck on the midterm home stretch! I enjoy the taste of halo top as well but can easily find low cal ice cream for much less. For example I just bought a whole quart of stop and shop brand slow churned chocolate thats 100 calories per 75grams and it only cost me $2 for the entire thing. Halo top is more than double that for 1/3 of the size. I just can’t justify spending the money on Halo top. But anyway, I’m cheap. Have a great week

Haha fair enough, I think it’s the novelty of the thing that incites me. And I’m def a sucker for good trendy branding :p
Thanks, and have a great week as well! 🙂

Fingers crossed on your midterms! And great job on your run 🙂
That sweetgreen salad looks delicious – I’ve never been to one!
My favorite thing from the weekend was time with family!

Good luck with midterms! I always hated mythology… you’re a better woman than I! 😉
I’m with you on the Halo Top. I flat out like it. And, at the end of the day, it’s way better for me than a whole pint of Ben & Jerry’s!
P.S. I LOVE that Obama bobblehead!

I’ve never been able to remember all those mythology names or keep any of the gods and goddesses straight. God of love? God of…what? You have my greatest respect.
You know what else has my respect? Whatever the heck Saag Paneer pizza is. Never seen it, never heard of it, but damn does it sound incredible.
Yay to a wonderful weekend with lots of self care. You NEED that in college to get you through those exams. Good for you <3

I am ALL about self-care, especially on weekends since the weeks are often so crazy. Hehe, mythology is pretty insane, and it’s SO MUCH INFORMATION. And yes, Saag Paneer pizza is absolutely incredible, and if you’re ever in Georgetown in DC, you need to try it at Curry and Pie!

I agree about HaloTop. It all depends on your “why” for eating it. I know that a few years ago, I would have snatched it up as a “safe” alternative to ice cream. Now, I eat it because I genuinely enjoy it, but the heck not as a replacement for my beloved Salt & Straw. And I mean, the HaloTop pints are so ridiculously adorable.

Totally! And omg I’m so jealous that Salt & Straw is in your home town! I visited last May, and that ice cream was literally orgasmic. I couldn’t stop mmming through it. Had it two days in a row, zero regrets 😉

Mmmm I love Indian food.
I hope you did OK on the midterms. Either way, they’re behind you now so you can go on more ice cream dates.
