A huge hello and welcome. I’m Nicole Rosalyn, the face behind Laughing My Abs Off.
As you can tell by my shirt, I am a proud New Yorker, born and raised.
Currently, I spend the majority of the year in DC where I study Psychology and Journalism and other rad things at my beautiful Hogwarts-like Georgetown University. Speaking of Hogwarts, yes I love Harry Potter, and yes it will probably come out in the first ten minutes if we have a conversation. I may or may not have chosen my school because it reminded me of Hogwarts and gave me “a feeling of magic.” #potterheadforlife
I’m all about listening to your heart and trusting that the universe has a plan for us all if we are only brave enough to listen and make it happen. If there is something I want to do, it will consume all my thoughts until I take that first step toward accomplishing that goal. One of my biggest fears is looking back on life and regretting not doing something or not taking a risk. Life is too short to let that person go or to ignore that sign or not eat your favorite slice of pie.
Some of my favorite things are iced or hot coffee, dogs, adventures, adrenaline rushes, breakfast dates, rainstorms, late-night car rides, and peanut butter.
I’ve been on that healthy living train since my sophomore year of high school, and I’ve never looked back. Over the course of the past few years, I’ve learned what it means to truly be healthy and how to strike a balance between living life and making healthy choices. I still stumble sometimes, but my mantra is always Do What Feels Good and Listen to Your Body. I really think you can’t go wrong if you trust the incredible mechanism that powers you and don’t try to meddle too much.
I love cooking and baking healthy treats, and I have an enormous arsenal of healthy recipes all neatly Bookmarked on my computer from some of my favorite healthy living blogs. Those bloggers are some of my biggest role models and such incredible inspirations.
Working out is an integral part of my life, and all of my friends know it. Dumbbells line the wall of my room, and my two yoga mats stand like imposing columns at the door. It is my favorite mode of stress relief and where I feel most invincible and strong. I believe there is a style of movement for everybody, and anyone who says they hate working out just hasn’t found the right workout for them.
In terms of long-term goals, I want to grow this blog so I can reach an audience of people and help someone either start living healthier, or improve their relationship with their body and food, or even just to notice the magic in every single day. If I can do all of the above, that would be even better. I want to eventually get certified to be a fitness instructor, and I want to start a Youtube Channel where I can talk about things that don’t make it on the blog or maybe even film workouts. Who knows what the future holds?
I love having some structure in my day, but I like being in charge of that structure and having the flexibility to plan my days like I want. For that reason, my dream job postgrad would be working for myself. That being said, I do need people around me every day to make sure I stay sane (extravert problems), so the dream would be to own a business with a team of like-minded wonderful individuals or to work with people in some way. I don’t know yet, but I trust my path will become clearer if I just follow my heart.
Being a Psych major, I am pretty obsessed with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test and have all my friends’ personalities written down in a little list in my iPhone Notes. I, myself, am an ESFJ. Oh, and I’m a Gryffindor, in case you were wondering ;).
I am so excited to begin this adventure and would love it if you’d stick around, so we can get to know each other a little better. You are wonderful.
XOXO,
Nicole Rosalyn
