Boy am I happy to see you! Well, I don’t see you, but you know what I mean. I feel like I totally fell off the face off the planet, and though I do apologize, it had to be done. This finals season is the most brutal one I’ve ever experienced. I had a 20-page paper due Monday, two finals Tuesday, and another paper also due Tuesday, and let’s just say I had like 50 million emotional breakdowns.
Actually, to be fair, I remained fairly calm through the entire process. Monday night I did start laughing hysterically on and off again, which is when I definitely was reaching some sort of breaking point. And at one point I went out into the empty common room and just jogged around it to get some energy out. Ugh, I’ve been doing so much sitting, and it’s actually PAINFUL. Just reminded me how important movement is and how grateful I am for usually being able to get that in.
Speaking of exercise, I didn’t work out for about 4 days because I was studying quite literally from waking time to sleeping time. I did make sure to throw some walks in there; I usually studied off campus with friends, so I suggested walking back to campus or at least part of the way, which definitely helped a lot both in de-stiffening my body but also relaxing my racing mind.
Yesterday, when I finally finished the brunt of my finals season (just one more to go!), I knew I needed some sort of release, so as soon as my second final was over at 5pm, I laced on my shoes and went for a run along the waterfront. I was expecting to literally just do 20 minutes, but once I was out there, I felt absolutely amazing. You know that feeling when your feet are just flying and you feel weightless?
I think it was the combination of all the pent-up energy as well as the extra rest. Plus some kick-ass Spotify tunes (I think it was the Confidence Boost playlist?) I ended up running for an hour, six miles, which is the longest I have ever done. My end point on the way there were the monuments, and once I got there, I sat down for about 15 minutes and just breathed and looked around. God, it feels good to just have time to sit and breathe.
My legs are toast now though, and my hips have never been this tight. Any suggestions welcome hehe. Six miles is definitely not about to become my new norm, but it was fun to see how far I could push myself!
Okay, onto the food of yesterday!
Breakfast was overnight oats! I ran out of greek yogurt, so I just did double the almond milk and a spoonful of chia seeds. Did the trick!
Lunch was right between my two finals and was super random but was EXACTLY what I needed. I made a hodgepodge salad of spinach, carrots, tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs, and some cheddar. Drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. And a slice of delicious banana bread! I don’t know why, but I REALLY wanted banana bread, and this one tasted just like my grandma’s. So comforting š
Dinner was my favorite Sweetgreen salad. This time I did kale, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, apples, carrots, and chicken. Enjoyed with some sparkling apple cider to celebrate ALMOST being done with sophomore year, while watching Lord of The Rings: Return of the King with Roomie’s BF. We so cool. :p
And then I capped off the night with a juicy green apple and some peanut butter and called it a night! Thanks for reading, y’all, and I’ll probably only see you next week when I’m officially on summer break! Woot, can’t wait! Hope you all have a deliciously marvelous week <3

Wooooooo you got through the hell storm!!! Only one more to go. I’m sure you can just SMELL that sweet sweet summer vacation.
That feeling when your legs just seem to be on clouds and have a brain of their own is really a wonderful feeling. I’ve experienced a few times. My hips were always – also – extremely tight the next day. But its whats in the moment that counts right? Aha. I’m glad you had this, and found your times to release and be outside and move. So helpful in these stressful busy times.
There are just a few things I get crazy specific HUGE cravings for. Banana bread is one of them.

Banana bread all day erry day. My mom made me some when I came home from college, and I literally had it for 2/3 meals one of the days. #zeroshame
