Hello hello! It’s been a while since I popped my head in here. How have you all been? How are you all dealing with the cold (unless you’re one of the lucky peeps who lives in 75 degree weather year-round)?
The new semester is officially in gear, and it’s been going alright. I am enjoying my classes, though I can already tell they will be VERY work-heavy. I am pretty sure I’ll have quite a bit less free time this semester than last, but eh, such is the natural order of things. I’ve also been weirdly worn-out. It’s been hard to be well-rested because while I try to go to bed at a normal hour, I have 8am classes twice a week and without fail, I can NEVER fall asleep early enough the night before. If anyone has tips, please throw them at me!
And maybe it’s the weather or the fact that winter break is over far too soon, but I’ve been feeling a bit out of sorts some of the days. Just a little more subdued and blue than I usually am. But again, those periods are pretty normal, and I have quite an arsenal of tools to help me beat the funk. Would you guys want to see a post on beating the blues?
But enough of all that. Today is Wednesday, which means we’re talking about food! This was one of my early wake-up days, and it was a particularly exhausting one for some reason. When I’m really tired, I tend to vacillate between being really hungry at some points in the day and then being super not hungry but still having a ton of different cravings. Does that make sense lol?
Which is pretty weird because I think I want something, and then when I try eating it, I’m like yeaaaah no. But I still got in a decent amount of good eats!
I was really feeling this yogurt bowl today. It’s my usual Fage with a couple tablespoons Oat My Goodness Chunky Monkey granola, a teaspoon each chia, hemp, and cacao nibs, and a heaping spoonful of cacao powder. Plus half a chopped banana. And an English breakfast tea!
After my 8am, I had a very satisfying workout in my room that was basically just random Fitness Blender and Blogilates videos to make one comprehensive ab session with some cardio. Really loving these at-home workouts when it’s so cold outside! Followed that with one of these amazing raw truffles. It’s just cacao powder, coconut oil, cacao nibs, and a couple other super simple ingredients, and it tastes delicious!
Next up was this loaded salad from Sweetgreen. I missed it so much; it’s been way too long. This guy had kale, miso dressed veggies, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, tofu, and portabella mushrooms. Georgetown Bestie and I decided Tuesdays are gonna be weekly Sweetgreen dates, and I am quite thrilled.
I couldn’t resist snagging a decaf iced almond milk latte from the nearby Grace Street Coffee. LOL, yes it was cold, and I still got iced coffee. I KNOW I’m not alone in this.
I have three back-to-back classes after that lunch break, so by the third class I was getting quite peckish. Thankfully I always carry around bars with me, so I inhaled a Cookie Dough Quest bar, which REALLY hit the spot for some reason. Maybe I needed the protein?
I returned back home literally falling over I was so tired, so I made myself an [unpictured] matcha tea to perk me up a bit. And read a lot of Robyn’s blog because I’m very behind. Both helped make me feel a little more human.
And finally, I had a gourmet dinner from the dining hall, which consisted of chicken sausage jambalaya, corn grits, and collard greens. Forgot to snap a pic, but it really wasn’t anything to write home about.
And that’s about it! After that, I practiced some guitar, did some homework, and promptly changed into my very comfy PJ’s. 🙂

Any tips for getting enough sleep when you have trouble falling asleep early?
How are you guys keeping warm?
Anyone else been feeling a bit off or blue lately? Is it something in the air?

Getting back in the swing of the semester is hard. Sorry to hear it’s bringing some blue feelings. I’ve been struggling to adjust and enjoy being back myself. The winter weather isn’t helping much either. Talk about depressing.
Weekly Sweetgreen dates sound like a brilliant idea. Also changing into pjs is probably my favorite part of the day. Happy half way through the week. You’ve got this.
