You guys, to be totally honest, I debated not posting today. I had taken all the pictures for this post, but then I thought about how I want to sleep so badly, and how I’d have to type it all up and upload and do all that, and I just felt…overwhelmed?
I feel like I’m failing at blogging, even though logically I know I’m not. I have no intention of quitting, and I know people take breaks like this. I also know that I should give myself some grace considering the fact that I’m taking a difficult course load in a rigorous university and am also trying to have some semblance of a social life.
But at the same time, I miss this space! I miss the summer when I had so much time to just write and write about the topics that are so near and dear to my heart. What I Ate Wednesdays are fun, but they’re not my bread and butter, ya know? And I so badly want to return to writing those deep heart-felt posts that I know would be helpful to some of you, but honestly? I just don’t have the mental energy to devote to it right now. And this could change in a matter of days, or weeks, or maybe a month. But I know this is the result of just having a very intense last few weeks in terms of work and stress, where I just did not have the time or the mental space to also be creating content for this space.
I guess, I just want you all to know that I’m still here, and believe you me, I will be returning with a BANG when things get a little more settled here. My hope is that this blog will have a crazy resurgence come December because that is when I will finally have a 20 day break. Which I plan to fill with cooking, baking, working out, catching up with friends and family, and blogging. But until then, I hope you enjoy my WIAW’s and occasional weekend recaps and maybe a couple extra posts here and there. I just need to regain my footing here a bit, so humor me? 🙂
Let’s see what I ate yesterday!
A VERY recycled picture because overnight oats aren’t all that photogenic. I had my usual recipe in an almost empty almond butter jar. Unfortunately no berries on top because it’s November, and berries currently cost an arm and five legs.
After class, I settled in at my go-to nearby coffeeshop with an iced coffee w/ soy and a Caesar’s salad. So I don’t usually go for Caesar’s salads, but I was desperately craving veggies, and this was one of the few options they had sans olives and with some protein. Anyone else think olives are devil spawn?
This guy had romaine, chicken breast, parmesan cheese, and a pretty delish dressing. One of the better Caesar’s salads I’ve had and satisfied my veggie needs! 🙂
A couple hours later, I obnoxiously rustled through this Double Chocolate Chunk Quest bar during my Stats class (don’t worry, I always sit in the back). This is my favorite Quest bar flavor for sure!
After Stats I had work, and then the plan was to work out in my room right after that, except I was hungry when I returned to the room, and I ain’t about to work out hungry. That’s just a disaster waiting to happen.
So I scarfed down some carrots and hummus.
And then I did a great cardio core workout in my room (love having free floor space), and then headed off to dinner. So dinner was a whole affair because I originally came to the dining hall, and then quickly realized that they had absolutely nothing appealing today. Plus I was weirdly craving veggies again, and all I could see was some sad-looking broccoli.
So I headed to the campus salad joint and got myself one of my favorite salads, which I have already told you guys about. It’s mixed greens, tomato-parsley mix, hummus, falafel, feta, sweet potatoes, and a basil dressing. Except they ran out of falafel….yes, I was sad.
But I got over it because I was just ready to eat, and the salad was still good! #adaptable
A little while later I had a giant Honeycrisp apple with some almond butter, and then I typed up this post and called it a night!
Hope you guys are having a fabulous week!
Best thing you ate recently?

Ugh I know what you mean about wanting to be able to write more often and more deeply, but just not having the time/brain space. I’m also excited for Christmas break and I’m hoping to do TONS of writing, but I’m also not going to force it and it sounds like you’re not either, which is a good thing. And you already know this, but you’re most definitely not failing at blogging. Blogs go through different seasons as we go through different seasons in life.
And yeah, I’m also missing summer when I had time to think and write and when berries didn’t cost a small fortune.
Sad that they ran out of falafel, but the rest of the salad still sounds delicious! Happy Wednesday!

I’m feeling it too–wanting to post more and not having the time and mental energy. I totally hear ya. We fill up our lives so incredibly full–especially as college students. Hang in there! It’s totally okay to take some time off from blogging if you need to, too.

I used to not like olives, but now I make an exception for the fancy bright green Spanish olives. They more more flavor and aren’t a mouthful of salt. The texture it good too – more meat vs. the typical canned mush.
Don’t put too much pressure on yourself about blogging. I went from 5 days a week to 2 and it was totally fine. I also didn’t post today until like 6pm. I have to remind myself that it’s supposed to be fun, not a task.

What how do they run out of falafel! And totally understand the burn out. Sometimes it’s great to take a week off from things whether it be blogging, working out, or cooking.

I took a 5 month break from blogging [I was moving across the state and changing jobs!] and I can totally tell you it was one of the BEST things for my blog. Not that you should take that much time off, but it really is a good idea to just take time off every now and then to re-charge! Yummy looking food!
