I’m back!! I missed you all so much. And I wish so badly that I could say I’m going to be here consistently from now on, but I know that’s just not possible. This is a busy season of life for me, and though I usually like being busy, this isn’t the kind of busy that always feels good.
You see, I love hustling and working hard when I’m doing something I am passionate about. That’s why I love summer so much. I get to work on all the different things that bring me joy, and work HARD, but I’m doing it for me. This is why I strongly believe I was born to work for myself, but that’s a story for another day.
Currently, I just have a whole lot of schoolwork, and because there’s so much, I’m left with little brain power for anything else. I make sure to spend time with friends, even if that just means studying silently next to each other. I make sure to laugh every day, and talk to my family, and *try* to keep nourishing my body in a way that makes me feel my best. To move in a way that does not stress me out further but also allows me to release pent-up energy. I really want to write a post with my best methods of dealing with stress (like school-stress), so look out for that soon. But for now, I am honestly just trying to survive this last crazy month of the semester. I have little left in my reserves for creativity or making plans, but I’m trying my best. And right now, that’s enough.
PHEW! Okay, I don’t want y’all to think I’ve just been super sad and #strugglecity this whole time; I actually have quite a bit of magic to share with you, so let’s dive right in.
Moments of Magic
The preview to summer we had this weekend
I don’t know if I mentioned this on here before, but I am SUCH a summer person. I love everything about summer, but I especially love that it’s not cold. I HATE being cold. This past weekend was BEAUTIFUL, with sunshine and 75-80 degree weather. It was also breezy and not humid at all, so I kept exclaiming that I feel like I’m on a Caribbean vacation, to my friends’ amusement.
A yacht cruise with friends
There was a boat party organized through an organization on campus, and a bunch of my friends and I decided to attend. It ended up being the CHILLEST evening because we all found a seat right at the bow of the boat and just sat there the entire time, talking, and enjoying the gorgeous views of the monuments and the Potomac. It made me so dang grateful for all my friends, and I just have to mention, if you still feel like you haven’t quite found your place wherever you are, or you don’t fit in with the people around you, please read this post that I wrote about my freshman year. Trust me, this too shall pass.
My super random and unexpected Saturday
Saturday was a great day, full of magical moments. It started with a brunch with Georgetown Bestie at Founding Farmers and then MB and I had plans to go to some museums and grab coffee at La Colombe. Well long story short, we got coffee, but we got to the museums so late that they were all about to close. Planning FAIL. Now I’m definitely a planner, but I’m also very chill about plans falling through, and I kind of like choosing a fun alternative. So I suggested going to one of my favorite bookstores Kramerbooks and Afterwords and then checking out the new Jeni’s Ice Cream location around there. So we explored the bookstore to our hearts’ content (so many books I want to read; so little time), and then speed walked to Jeni’s.
You guys. Jeni’s is LEGIT. I got a half-scoop brambleberry crisp and half-scoop salted peanut butter with chocolate flakes on a homemade waffle cone, and it was legit like a PB & J. Def one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had!
Working at Gospel Choir
As you may know, I work at Campus Ministry, and once a semester, the Protestant Ministry puts on a Gospel Choir concert. I love working these because not only is the music beautiful, but it’s one of the most uplifting and feel-good events on campus. I really needed it to start off this week. Also I found a little nook and during the concert, did some work on my computer, while listening to the music. So…maybe not ideal in terms of presence, but ya know, you gotta do what you gotta do.
Pizza and a Movie with Roomie
Roomie and I haven’t done this in a while, but it’s one of our favorite things. We walk over to &Pizza, grab pizza to go, and then watch a movie in our room while eating the pizza. We chose Forrest Gump this day, and I know this is so sad, but it was my first time watching it. But I LOVED it. I thought it was the perfect mix of uplifting and real, and it really made me think. About life (I said that in my head with a very Southern accent…)
Winning an Instagram giveaway
Oh man. This was MAGIC at its FINEST! So I sometimes enter different giveaways on Instagram or on blogs or whatever just for kicks, and I never win anything. I applied for Georgie’s giveaway with Bobo bars, and call me insane, but I had this small feeling that I would win. I didn’t really pay attention to it because part of me was like yeaaaah right.
But then I won!!! OMG I’m so pumped! So yeah, I’ll let y’all know how my Bobo bars taste. Pretty good, I’ll bet, considering they’re free and come with sweet sweet victory. 😉
And now for the workouts!
Workout Recap
Monday- this cardio warm up and this upper body and cardio routine
Tuesday– this total body Pilates routine and this VS Angel routine {both are AMAZING}
Wednesday– this warmup + this hiit routine + this comprehensive lower body Pilates routine
Thursday– rest
Friday– 4.5 mile run in the HEAT {note to self: please don’t run in over-80 degree weather again}
Saturday– Walked almost 20,000 steps around DC
Sunday– rest
Note: Looking back at this week, I can see that my body was definitely craving slower movement. Which is why I have more walking, rest, and Pilates than usual. But Wednesday and Friday I really was craving something a bit more intense, so I honored that. I think it’s important to remember that there are no rules from week to week; your body is going to want different things, depending on a whole host of things. Sleep, stress, your cycle (if you’re a gal), etc. all make a difference, so just try and listen in to what it’s telling ya.
Okay, lovebugs. I’m off to finish some homework and then hopefully get a nice long night of sleep. Sometimes I wake up early on Mondays to work out, and sometimes I don’t and this Monday, I’m definitely feeling sleeping in. Have a magical day!

Jeni’s ice cream is most definitely LEGIT. Some of the best stuff there is.
Also I adore the cherry blossoms.
Good luck on this final month. I remember how insane the end of each semester was. You got this.

One of the few that compares is Portland’s Salt and Straw. Unf, foodgasm. And thank you so much, Meg. I’ll need it!

It looks like it’s been a hectic time for all of us in the blog world.
Your Potomac cruise sounds amazing! I’ve never been to DC, but those cherry blossoms look just stunning. I’m with you–I don’t *hate* the cold, but it makes me so happy when it starts to warm up and I can go outside without a coat!
