Hello! We’ve got a lot to cover today (if the title is any indication), and I am looking to go to sleep ASAP because I’ve got an early wake-up call tomorrow, so I’m going to dive right in.
Okay, I know you all are on the edge of your seat wondering what the announcement is…and I’m sure some of you have been wondering what this “secret project” is that I’ve been mentioning for a few weeks now. And some of you are like I literally had no idea anything new was happening. Well, I am so crazy super excited to announce to ALL OF YOU that…
Ya girl is starting a podcast!!!
Yup. I took the plunge and did the thing that was my number one goal for this summer ever since a moment in the spring when I decided this was something I had to do.
The plan for now is the podcast will be coming out every two weeks, most likely on Thursdays, with the first episode going live hopefully this Thursday. The podcast will be available to play both from the blog and from iTunes, so if all goes according to plan, I will post the first episode here in just a few short days!
It’ll be basically what you are used to here on the blog, but extended. It’s a lot easier to chat about certain topics than it is to write about them, so I expect you’ll be learning a lot more about me through this new medium than perhaps is possible to glean from reading my words here.
I also love that it’s really easy to get a whole bunch of information into a compressed amount of time in a podcast, which can then be listened to whenever is convenient, since a blog post is often a bit limited in how much it can encompass and how many people it will reach.
It’ll be solo episodes for the time being, but I am excited to eventually bring on guests. There are so many people in the wellness space that inspire me, and so it would be incredible to one day get to ask them all my burning questions. But! That is for the future, and right now, we are only launching. So I hope you will join me on this crazy new adventure as I figure out all the ropes of this medium.
And now onto the weekend recap!
It was such a lovely one, and I thought it was the perfect example of slow yet not lazy/boring. I don’t love weekends where you don’t do anything and just lounge around at home on your phone/the computer, and before you know it the day is over. But I also don’t love weekends that bear a scary resemblance to weekdays with their hectic craziness.
This past weekend was the perfect middle ground. Friday started with just getting some blog work done at home until around 4:30 when I got all dolled up and headed into the city to meet my mom for a quick dinner at Le Pain before we saw…
FROZEN on Broadway! I was so excited about this because I had this goal of seeing 21 Broadway shows before I turn 21, and this was my 21st! Woot! For the record, I liked the movie more hehe, though the set was amazing! Probably the best I’ve seen yet on Broadway. I just didn’t love the alterations to the musical score and certain directorial choices, but eh, that’s just me. Still a great experience.
So then I picked up Roomie from the nearby bus station (she was staying over for just one night), and we headed home…and then proceeded to talk nonstop until around 4am when both of our eyes were falling shut and we finally agreed to call it a night.
In the morning I made all of us my famous oatmeal and French press coffee (I’m becoming increasingly proud of my coffee-making skills now hehe), and Roomie and I settled down to watch How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Classic.
And then it was time for her to leave (*sadface*) and I headed to TJ’s and WF for a nice restocking of all the fridge and pantry essentials while blabbing with Syracuse Bestie on the phone. I probably bought a few extra things because I was distracted, but it was worth it 😉
Sunday I had this urge to go out for baked goods and coffee, so I took my mom to Blue Sky Bakery, which is known to have the best muffins in NYC! This was my second time there, and I wholeheartedly stand by that claim. Mom and I had a lovely time sitting there, slowly munching on our muffins and sipping our coffee. Then we took a leisurely walk through Prospect Park to go visit my grandma, and then another long walk to get to Bareburger.
The build-your-own with the collard wrap is my fave! I always get the sweet potato wild rice patty with aged cheddar, tons of veggies and wild mushrooms, and their homemade ketchup and mustard.
Followed by some more walking and soul conversation with my mom. <3
And that was pretty much my weekend! A perfect blend of spontaneity, fun, and soul-filling relaxation.
Workouts of the Week
I’m working on a post where I talk more about my changing relationship with exercise, but for now let me just say, this week is a pretty good illustration. I’ve been more intuitive than I ever had with my workouts, which right now means a lot more walks and yoga than weights and HIIT. And I’m loving it. I still love the intense stuff, but this is a season of life where my bod is just craving the flow more.
Monday– rest (spent all day out in the city so no time for workouts!)
Tuesday– short but intense HIIT cardio kickboxing and core workout
Wednesday– half of this video (I got bored LOL) + this ab routine + this power yoga flow
Thursday– this awesome cardio barre routine
Friday– cardio and arm strength workout
Saturday– restorative yoga session
Sunday– long walks through Prospect Park with my mom
Have a lovely Monday, sweet humans <3
Linking up with Meg for Week in Review
Do you listen to podcasts?! What do you hope to see in this one?
Best part of your weekend?
Have you been gravitating toward a slower pace of life lately too?
Cora says
Nicole!! You are ambitious and going for what you want to do – that is inspiring!! Go you!! Can’t wait to listen, obviously. I always have podcasts on so your voice will slot beautifully into my rotation.
As for the rest of your weekend – it sounds absolutely perfect. Like a holiday. Going out for coffee and muffins (this would have been my favorite) and lots of walking and a show!! I’m jealous. Also jealous about the breakfast movie. I remember doing that all the time in high school when I slept over at my friends. I should try that again.

Hey hey! Congrats on reaching your goal of starting a podcast! I’m actually not a huge podcast person–just me, nothing personal, I promise–so I may not catch every single episode, but I’ll definitely make a point to listen to your first episode on Thursday!
I’m with you on weekends being the right balance of not too hectic but not too boring. It’s a difficult balance to strike sometimes. Glad this one was the right pace for you. 🙂

Congratulations on the podcast! Any new venture is exciting and challenging. Best of luck to you.
I also loved reading about the outing you had with your mom. My mom was the best person to sit and have a cup of coffee and a muffin with (or a bloody Mary and French fries). Enjoy the time with your mom!
