Hello!!! I am super duper pumped and excited because, like the title of this post shows, and as you can see if you are reading this, there have been some changes. Truthfully, this has been a LONG time coming.
I started Laughing My Abs off two years ago. Though, honestly, it feels like significantly longer.
I had a certain vision for my blog back when I started with that I kinda hit with the old version, but it was never quite perfect. The website had certain small issues that I honestly didn’t know how to resolve and didn’t have the resources to get them resolved professionally. I always knew it was a temporary “for now” version.
More than that, as I grew and evolved, and as Laughing My Abs Off grew and evolved with me, something about the old theme just felt a bit too…juvenile? I went through many personal changes in these two years; heck, I went from being a college freshman to a rising senior!
This new website feels like that moment in HP & The Goblet of Fire where Hermione is walking down the stairs in her beautiful dress and and everyone is looking at her all wonderstruck.
Yes, the blog is no longer a girl. It is a woman. (I am laughing so hard right now as I type this).
I wanted the website to reflect a more grown-up version of this blog, and of me. A version that is much more aligned with the vision I have for this space and where I want it to go. You all know I’m a dreamer, always moving onto the next big project that gets me fired up. I don’t know what the future holds, but all I know is this change feels like a necessary step right now.
I really really hope you like it. And now, allow me to walk you through all the various newness in these here parts.
The Travel section
I knew I wanted to have a separate tab for Travel for a while now, since it’s such an important part of my life (and I have quite a few travel guides that were getting dusty in the Archives). Please don’t ask why it took me getting a whole new THEME to make this happen, but either way, it’s there now! Head over there to read all my Study Abroad Adventure posts and my guides to Chicago, Philadelphia, Charlottesville, and Nantucket.
Oh, and when you hover over the Travel tab, you’ll notice another tab in the drop-down menu called NYC guide…
The NYC Guide
Another part of the blog that’s been a LONG TIME COMING. I think I’ve been talking about creating this since I first started this venture way back two years ago. The NYC guide is essentially all my NYC recommendations and favorites in one place. I plan to continue adding to it on a rolling basis as I discover more new spots. I hope you love it! (It can also be found on the Home Page when you scroll down.)
And there you have it! I’m so grateful to have you along with me as we all grow and change together. I’m a strong believer that stagnation is boring, and we are always meant to be moving and evolving, and I’m so happy that this little baby of mine now reflects that belief.
And now, I’ll give you a chance to do some exploring of your own. Please feel free to poke around; perhaps you’ll stumble upon a new blog post you’d never seen before that really resonates!
And I’d love any feedback, so please feel free to drop a comment or utilize my new Get in Touch contact form to send me a message! š
Love you all!
xx,
Nicole

WoooooOOOOO!! I’m not a girl…. Not yet a woman…… (I made my own personal background theme song as I scrolled through your new digs).
It’s wonderful and looks great! Congratulations! Sounds like this space will provide you with an awesome new organization to fit in some really cool categories and collections.

The new theme looks amazing!! As a blogger who knows nothing about website design I was wondering, how did you make the changes? Where is the new theme from? I feel like I’m at a stage where I want to make some changes to my blog, but I’m not sure where to begin!

Mackenzie!! Thank you so much!! I actually purchased a theme via Etsy! I have a Genesis parent theme set up already and basically just needed to get a different (daughter?) theme. Definitely look on Etsy for some options! I also briefly considered Squarespace because they have a super streamlined and clean design, but I think there’s a little less freedom to customize on there (not sure though; I know it has lots of fans!)
Best of luck!

Ahh okay!! Good to know! Thanks š btw I LOVE that you compared your website update to when Hermione comes down the stairs at the Yule Ball in the Goblet of Fire. Big Harry Potter fan here, and that’s such a great comparison haha
